Warning! I Tweet and Invite You to Join Me

A few people blame me for something I did unconsciously.

Months ago, I quietly joined Twitter after Andrea contacted me. She read a comment I made about social media and emailed,

So are you on Twitter?

I didn’t want to like Twitter. I was sort of embarrassed to be using it.

Could anyone possibly care about what I’m doing? The answer surprised me.

Twitter isn’t really about what I am doing. It’s about connecting with others. It’s about sharing and helping and growing.

In that spirit, I’m pleased to announce Heart of the Matter‘s Twitter chat!

Dana of Principled Discovery and I are honored to host this come and go event the second Monday of each month from 8-10 CST.

The first homeschool chat is Monday, January 12th. We hope you can come!

For more information, please visit Join Us for a Monthly Chat. There Dana explains what Twitter is and how to find us. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

And you are welcome to blame me if you sign up. Melissa and Anna-Marie do.

They’ve already forgiven me. (Right?)

Campaign Finished, My Concession Speech

Congratulations to Cindy Rushton who won this year’s Homeschool Blog Award for Best Encourager!

It was my privilege to be in the race with such amazing women:Young Breton Women wearing Shawls, or The Girls of Douarnenez, 1895 by Paul Serusier

Many of you voted for me and for that I am honored.

Words fail when gratitude swells. Thank you for encouraging me!

We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers, remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father…(1 Thessalonians 1:2-3)

The Reward of Writing and a Request for Your Vote

A few of you have been with me since the beginning of Life Nurturing Education. Others joined this journey recently. Thank you, each of you, for visiting me here. It blesses me to know you read what I labor over in the evening when the sound of clacking keys is my tranquility.

Alice Gamby In The Garden, Young Girl Sitting In The Grass, 1891 by Pierre-Auguste Renoir

As ideas emerge from the shuffling letters, the words pry open my soul numbed by activity. The words bring life, strength, and focus to one prone to wander.

This purposeful act of reflection takes time to construct and discipline to create. It is a worthy pursuit. For here, I see more clearly. I find refreshment stretching to get a glimpse of the sun and a taste of the dew.

Your questions have encouraged me to reach higher. Thank you for inspiring some of my best posts:

My words will fade, but I hope they point to the word that stands forever. (Isaiah 40: 6, 8)

If you have found peace and encouragement here (at any time in the past, or present, or think you might in the future), will you please consider voting for Life Nurturing Education in the Homeschool Blog Awards? I am honored to be a nominee for Best Encourager.

I am even more thrilled you are with me reaching for an eternal reward.

Homeschool Family Devastated by Death of Son

Man of Sorrows by William Dyce
Man of Sorrows

Today I planned to announce my article at the Heart of the Matter. I wish I could. Instead of my thoughts about getting projects done, a touching tribute has been posted for a little boy who lost his life last night.

Watching my children play, I imagine the wrenching ache. Tears dribble down my cheeks, and a song whispers,

We can say goodbye with hope
‘Cause we know our goodbye is not the end
And we can grieve with hope
‘Cause we believe with hope
There’s a place where we’ll see your face again

May the Drews family find hope and peace as they crawl through this valley of shadows. Please join me in praying for them.

:)
