I'm excited for our first official homeschooling year! Parker is a medically fragile child with Down syndrome.

We chose to educate him at home because of his medical issues. Plus, I also believe that the one on one time he will have with me will far outshine anything he could receive at school.

I created my own curriculum for him based on his learning style and where he is developmentally.

I'm very excited for THAT! :D

We're studying the Civil War this year so this week are visiting SC to see Fort Sumter in person. We think it will really leave an impact to get the children excited to learn about the Civil War!!!

This will be my first year homeschooling. We pulled our three boys (13, 10, and 7) out of public school last year and they loved their first year at an ACE school just a few miles away from us. They will still be going to their school this year, but our 15yo daughter decided she wants to be homeschooled this year (she's been in the public school since kindergarten). We will be using ACE through the boys' school, just homeschooling her instead of her going to the school itself. We are very excited and are looking forward to our new adventure!

I'm so excited to be adding "Mighty Works Of God". It will be ordered shortly (hopefully this week). We are into our 2nd full week of school already and it's been a challenge to get them into a routine and school mode so we are adjusting and learning to go with the flow more. I've stopped using a time scheduler and just keeping lesson plans. We go until we finish and take breaks when needed. It's a much more relaxed pace and we are not feeling stressed about meeting a certain time to have something done. It's great so far! And the boys have learned in order to play they have to finish their lessons so they are putting diligence and persistence into practice!

As of today, Life of Fred math books and the microscope are tied for the new year's most exciting projects. I had to give in and let the kids get started, with promises from them that we will still finish up the last few chapters of language lessons and history that still remain!
