Win a Ticket to Heart of the Matter’s Home Education Conference
Did you get the opportunity to check out the upcoming Heart of the Matter’s 2009 Homeschool Conference? This year looks even better than last year!
I look forward to hearing my friend, Dana Hanley, discuss how to develop an educational philosophy. A dateless lesson planner sounds like something I can use. And Anne Elliot’s session, Using the Bible as Your Primary Textbook, looks insightful and encouraging.
Take a look at all the speakers and sessions. I’m sure there is something you don’t want to miss!
Speaking of missing something, I can’t forget I have two tickets to giveaway. To enter simply leave a comment on this post telling me your most exciting plan for the upcoming school year. It might be a new resource you purchased, something you are adding to your routine, or a fun trip you have in the works.
The winners will be drawn Tuesday, July 28th at 11:00 p.m. CST. Best wishes and thanks for sharing the exciting things happening in your home. I can’t wait to see what you have planned.

Not sure how exciting it it, but I’m planning on starting the “draw write now” series with my son. We’ve had it for awhile but we’ve held off on starting it – I didn’t want to pressure my son and start handwriting too early. He seems to be showing some interest in writing now, though, so we’ll try it. We’ll probably make our way very slowly through the first book. I wish I had something more exciting to share- there WILL be exciting things, I just don’t know what they are yet! :-)
I am looking forward to our yearly trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium! We always find great projects to get us ready to go, and fun things we want to continue studying when we get back!
The most exciting thing we have planned for this fall is to go camping with our co-op group. I haven’t been camping with a large group since I was in girl scouts. I think my kids are going to have so much fun!
I am excited to begin my homeschooling endeavor w/ my two older daughters. One will be starting K/1st and the other will be beginning Pre-school. I am looking forward to the challenges this will entail, but at the same time it is a bit scary. My husband assures me I will do a great job at teaching our children. I pray he is right.
So many things! I’m excited to be using Story of the World 1, trying out the Charlotte Mason method, incorporating more intentional nature studies, and starting a teatime where we enjoy the music of our featured composer.
We are most excited this year to be joining up with our Classical Conversations Community. My boys are thrilled to be planning to see friends weekly there. And, as I’m implementing some of my favorite CM ideas, I’m looking forward to even more read-alouds this next year and more habit training.
Thanks for sharing all your info and ideas!
I have to many things I’m looking forward to. This is our official first year of homeschooling with curriculum and the works. We are so excited, nervous, scared but I know with God all things are possible.
Thank you and blessings.
i think the one thing i’m most excited about this year is that we are starting and hosting a weekly learning co-op of neighborhood families! we hosted one class a week this past year, and that experience was so rewarding that we have decided to branch out and do a whole day each week. since i have no prior co-op experience we will be going by the seat of our pants, but i expect it to be a wonderful journey for both the children and the parents (all mothers so far), and i am so looking forward to it!
As of today, Life of Fred math books and the microscope are tied for the new year’s most exciting projects. I had to give in and let the kids get started, with promises from them that we will still finish up the last few chapters of language lessons and history that still remain!

I’m so excited to be adding “Mighty Works Of God”. It will be ordered shortly (hopefully this week). We are into our 2nd full week of school already and it’s been a challenge to get them into a routine and school mode so we are adjusting and learning to go with the flow more. I’ve stopped using a time scheduler and just keeping lesson plans. We go until we finish and take breaks when needed. It’s a much more relaxed pace and we are not feeling stressed about meeting a certain time to have something done. It’s great so far! And the boys have learned in order to play they have to finish their lessons so they are putting diligence and persistence into practice!
This will be my first year homeschooling. We pulled our three boys (13, 10, and 7) out of public school last year and they loved their first year at an ACE school just a few miles away from us. They will still be going to their school this year, but our 15yo daughter decided she wants to be homeschooled this year (she’s been in the public school since kindergarten). We will be using ACE through the boys’ school, just homeschooling her instead of her going to the school itself. We are very excited and are looking forward to our new adventure!
We’re studying the Civil War this year so this week are visiting SC to see Fort Sumter in person. We think it will really leave an impact to get the children excited to learn about the Civil War!!!
I’m excited for our first official homeschooling year! Parker is a medically fragile child with Down syndrome.
We chose to educate him at home because of his medical issues. Plus, I also believe that the one on one time he will have with me will far outshine anything he could receive at school.
I created my own curriculum for him based on his learning style and where he is developmentally.
I’m very excited for THAT! :D
