Warning! I Tweet and Invite You to Join Me

A few people blame me for something I did unconsciously.

Months ago, I quietly joined Twitter after Andrea contacted me. She read a comment I made about social media and emailed,

So are you on Twitter?

I didn’t want to like Twitter. I was sort of embarrassed to be using it.

Could anyone possibly care about what I’m doing? The answer surprised me.

Twitter isn’t really about what I am doing. It’s about connecting with others. It’s about sharing and helping and growing.

In that spirit, I’m pleased to announce Heart of the Matter‘s Twitter chat!

Dana of Principled Discovery and I are honored to host this come and go event the second Monday of each month from 8-10 CST.

The first homeschool chat is Monday, January 12th. We hope you can come!

For more information, please visit Join Us for a Monthly Chat. There Dana explains what Twitter is and how to find us. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

And you are welcome to blame me if you sign up. Melissa and Anna-Marie do.

They’ve already forgiven me. (Right?)

Yes I do! But I’m so glad–it’s fun! And so nice getting to chat with you all, mark what I’m doin’ and catch glimpses of my friends’ days. Thanks for getting me hooked! :)

  • April says:

Oh, help. I’ve been resisting the twitter pull because it seems so . . . silly? But the tweeting forces are pulling me in. Do I have to? Help me here, Renae.

  • Andrea says:

And you blame me. :D It’s okay, I can take it. I get blamed for lots of time sucks. :D

  • Sunniemom says:

I think I am Twitter Challenged- I just can’t seem to get into it… but then I am in a blogging lull altogether, due to major changes here at home… maybe I should Tweet about all of it! :D

  • Renae says:

    Melissa,
    So glad you’re there!

    April,
That’s what I thought, too. Then I started to connect with other homeschoolers and have been so blessed.

Of course, you don’t have to join. It can be way too time consuming, but I can always kick you off if I see you on there too much. ;)

Another option might be to just join for the chat and completely ignore it the rest of the time. (If that is possible.)

    Andrea,
    I don’t really blame you. ;)

Your email was just my last little push over the edge. And isn’t that what Twitter is about? Connecting with others. I guess all I needed was a personal invitation, so thanks for inviting me!

  • Renae says:

    Sunniemom,
Yes, please do! :D You can even ask us to pray. I find myself interceding for prayer requests on Twitter often.

  • Michele says:

Hey Renae, Twitter sounds alot like facebook. Is it the same basic princple?

  • April says:

I did it. I’m oddlysaid, which seems appropriate.

  • Renae says:

    Michele,
I think so. I don’t use Facebook very much, but I know a few people who like it better than Twitter. Twitter doesn’t have all of the invitations and requests to join things which I appreciate.

Also, for some reason Twitter isn’t quite as overwhelming to me. It’s simply conversation and people sharing links.

    April,
Yeah! I’m going to find you now. :D

  • Melinda says:

I’ve been trying not to get all into Twitter, lol….and here you go tempting me with a homeschool chat.

  • Sunniemom says:

I gave Twitter a try yesterday- a real try, and it was fun. Then I went and joined Facebook. I’m looking forward to the Twitter Chat.

BTW, I’m really glad you’ve decided to take the blame for all this, Renae. :p

  • Renae says:

    Melinda,
You could always join just for the chat. ;)

    Sunniemom,
I’m not sure y’all will be able to hide behind me on judgment day. ;)

But I’m glad you enjoyed Twitter. If you get into conversations, it can be very fun. Also, I’ve gotten good recommendations for lessons and help with blogging.

I look forward to having you at the chat on Monday!

Ah, the power of Twitter! I just found you on Twitter, and now your blog, by tracking back from stats on my “Homeschool Lesson Plans and Planners” Squidoo lens. Thanks for bookmarking and tweeting the link to my lens!
