Prepare the Wedding Dress
Pangs of worry throb in our souls as we squint at the future. Fear existed before the election; it still exists today.
Finances wither away. Battered emotions tear. Bright futures flicker. What will happen to our jobs? Our children? Our liberty?
“There is nothing new under the sun,” but tomorrow still remains a cloud of mystery. (Ecclesiastes 1:9)
My thoughts pull to the past. Generations who sacrificed. Those who sacrifice now. I cringe. Hunger is not my friend. Trials are not my plan. Yet there is no immunity for the toil of this passing existence.
One who sang in prison, reminds how to conquer chains of fear: look forward to the wedding.
Live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.
So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. (2 Peter 3:11,14)
The bridegroom yearns for his beloved to appear in her wedding dress. He calls and listens for the response.
And when the bride sings even in the midst of prison, something quakes deep within. Doors burst open and grace enters bringing light to those in darkness.
