We can still discuss them. We can bring them to remembrance. We can, at least, vote against increased socialism .... as we do the work of digging for the principles and passing them onto our children.

My primary hope is in God but I agree with you on this too. This is also a part of my hope. We still have time to keep our hearts right, to listen to God, to obey Him and to teach our children.

Blessings!

Dana,
Can you imagine Washington's reaction if he did live now? So much for his following his advice about party politics. :(

DJ,
Yes, power tends to corrupt. It takes men and women of solid character to resist it. We do need mercy and wisdom, but I don't despair because God says he will grant us those things if we ask.

Our prayers are heard and they do make a difference. It is because of God's mercy and the measure of Christian character we still have in this country that the Constitution remains. The ideas are there. We can still discuss them. We can bring them to remembrance. We can, at least, vote against increased socialism.

May God raise up the statesmen and women our country needs to hold onto and increase liberty as we do the work of digging for the principles and passing them onto our children.

I ask myself the same question. I watched both the Democratic and Republican conventions. I listened carefully to the words and ideas presented. I listened very closely and heard a *few* of the words, a *couple* of the ideas-principles I hold to but underlying all the political drama and fluff, the candidates seem to have a different sense of the words and ideas/principles than I do. The candidates and their parties seem to be plagued with some self-serving, power-hungry interests.

I am a flawed, imperfect individual and I know our elected officials are too. I also know there will never be a 100%, perfect candidate, party platform or civil government but shouldn’t the candidates have an interest in and a desire for upholding the Constitution, for liberty and self-government, preserving and nurturing it -- shouldn‘t these be some of the ideas they talk about? That’s what I was hoping for and looking for.

Now with the Presidential election only weeks away, I am struggling with all of it and how to vote. I ask myself: who comes closest to my idea/principles? I pray for wisdom. May God have mercy on us and grant us wisdom in our mind-hearts, homes and the election.

Blessings.
