I’m Over Here Today
My first article for Heart of the Matter Online has been published. Read The Hope of Liberty here.
What are your plans for celebrating America’s 232nd birthday? (My son figured that out for me.) Beverly included some interesting links to assist your celebration in this week’s Carnival of Homeschooling.
Our plans aren’t solidified yet, but we always enjoy getting together with friends. Last year we finished our gathering by reading the Declaration of Independence. I plan to continue that tradition.

Canada turned 141 yesterday. He’ll like that tidbit. :)
Yes! Happy Birthday, Canada! I look forward to showing the kids the pictures of your parade. :)
Hey,
Thanks for the comments on my blog. It is nice to know that I am not the only one of my “species” ;-) (I started to tag you, but I thought you might be pretty busy with all your new writing “gigs”:-)
We usually celebrate the 4th with a cookout with some family members and then sometimes we go and watch the fireworks at a local park. Nothing too spectacular. I like the idea of reading the Dec. of Ind. I might have to suggest that. My oldest is getting ready to start American Govt’, so that might be a good intro into that.
Michele,
Thanks for thinking of me. I do memes occasionally, but it’s usually months after I was tagged.
It is nice to know there are others like me, too. ;) My mom likes things clean, but doesn’t mind clutter. She doesn’t understand how I can overlook all the dirt on the dryer, and I can’t grasp why she has so many piles. We make a good team, when we are together. :)
I’m glad you like the idea of reading the Declaration. It actually wasn’t mine. A neighbor (who is an amazing teacher) invited us over for lunch. After we ate, we read and discussed all the reasons for separation. We also enjoyed a few poems. It was nice to spend a few moments reflecting on the price of liberty in the midst of celebration.
I LOVE the new look, it is perfect!!!!
