Blog Birthday, Giveaways to Follow

Flowers for the Party by Arvid NyholmI’m a reluctant writer, so sometimes I wonder why I started blogging. Sharing my heart on the internet reveals insecurities I didn’t know existed. Words are the resting place of ideas, so clicking letters are tools to process my hidden thoughts. These thoughts are personal. They are my innermost property distributed on the waters of the internet.

During the beginning of this casting, my brain raced after I published a post. Mentally combing every word, I wondered what the response would be. My ideas were exposed. Parts of my heart opened for anyone to see, but a different kind of relationship emerged based purely on ideas and common goals.

It doesn’t matter if I wear mismatched pajamas, out-dated glasses, or need a haircut. You do not see the external, yet you are getting to know the private me, the me alone in the evening when the house is quiet, and my thoughts can fly. Sometimes they move too far too fast, and it is laborious to catch them, but that is the work of writing. And it is work, much more work than I realized. However, the reward is sweet. Rubbing ideas sharpens them, so thank you for reading and commenting and sharing your journey.

A year ago, I only knew of a couple homeschool blogs. Now I realize I am one voice among multitudes expressing the importance of family and education. One voice added to the throng doesn’t seem important, but God works through individuals, and if he can use a donkey, I know he can use me.

Garden Party by Louisa LeeToday Life Nurturing Education is one-year-old. Instead of serving cyber cake to celebrate, I decided to have a week long giveaway. Four Schooling at Home Estians are participating with gift certificates for their beautiful creations. I look forward to introducing them, so be sure to come back tomorrow for your chance to win stunning jewelry from mompotter.

Happy Blog Anniv. I have enjoyed getting to know your heart these past couple of months. I love how you write with such integrity. It moves me each time and makes me want to deepen my own thoughts that I so carelessly put out into the blogosphere some times.
    Have a good week!

  • Emily says:

well HEY! count me in on a good party.

I know what you mean about God using a donkey…he sure uses odd, off the wall….random ramblings. I know that I have read blogs that had NOTHING to do with anything sensitive to my heart, yet they touched me.

    You’re a bloggy baby. I think I’m on year 3.

  • Emily says:

(the very start of year 3….didn’t want to exaggerate.)

  • Renae says:

    Mandi,
It’s true. I can’t believe that it’s been a year already. I’ve learned much and been encouraged by many people, including you! Thanks for being so faithful. You are one of the few who has been with me from the very beginning.

  • Renae says:

    Dianne, Daisy, and Emily,
Thank you. I enjoy being part of such an amazing community. Homeschool bloggers are the best! :)

  • Go Renae Go!! Your next year will be even better, I just know it.

Thanks for all the inspiration (and a kick in the pants now and again was helpful too!).

So I’ll close with a silly but true abbreviation from my childhood: LYLAS!!

  • Jena says:

Renae, I’m glad to meet you! Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog about my name. It was very poetic. I love that sentiment. Thanks so much and congratulations on the one year anniversary.

  • Renae says:

    Anna-Marie,
I appreciate your friendship so much. Thanks for challenging me, encouraging me, and making me laugh.

I had to look up that abbreviation. The translation is so sweet. LYLAS, too. ;)

  • Renae says:

    Jena,
    Nice to meet you, too.

I think I found your blog through Heather of An Untraditional Home, but I tend to float around the internet sometimes and lose track of where I originated.

  • Happy Blog Anniversary! You are doing a great job…it’s a pleasure to read. Blessings to you :)

  • Julie W says:

    Julie
