There Were Four in the Bed

Jessie Wilcox Smith, The Land of Counterpane

The past two days I’ve felt like chanting, “Roll over, roll over.” Four miserable, sick individuals are sprawled on every square inch of my bed. I’ve reminded my precious children that they each have their own bed, but something about cuddling close to mom makes them feel better.

My husband insisted on purchasing a queen size bed when our oldest was a baby. I’m glad he did, but now I’m thinking a California king size might be better, other than the fact that such enormous bed wouldn’t fit in the bedroom. When we are all sick though, who cares? We can set up the bed in the living room and dull the pain with endless videos and books on tape.

There is hope. Sunshine feels better and decided to dust for me. It’s too bad she can’t do laundry yet.

Oh, I’m sorry your children are not well. Hope everyone is up and about soon. I so understand about cuddling close. We have a sort of family bed so that makes all of us pretty attached :)…stay warm…and enjoy “the pleasant land of counterpane”. Miiko

We have all been sick here, too.

I hope everyone at your home is feeling better soon!

My anti-spam word is “hugs.” :)

Thank you very much for your kind words. We all made it to the couch today, so that is progress. :) Our “counterpane” was watching the Planet Earth videos my sister gave us for Christmas. The world God made is amazing!

    Charity,
I hope you get well soon. Blessings.

  • I hope that your children feel better soon and you manage not to succumb also.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. I am glad you like my summery pictures; next winter it will be my turn to envy your beautiful northern summer.

Oh I can relate. The other day, I woke up with a baby cuddled on my arm, a two year old’s knees in my back, a four year old using my leg as a pillow and a dog on my feet.

How did that happen? I was alone when I went to bed. I vaguely remembered getting the baby, but everyone else?

Oh, a king size is a must! I wouldn’t give it up now for sure! We bought one when we had our 4th child because the kids were always kicking my dh out of bed, and that annoyed me.

Me too! We should have opted for the King!

  • I love it. We bought a King sized when I got pregnant with our second child. We’ve had to choose houses based on bedroom size for the last 29 years. Now that dh works nights, if youngest (3) decides to sleep with siblings, that bed gets kind of big and lonely. Then the next night he’ll be back, and another will come in the middle of the night with a cough or bad dream or something, and I’m all back to being squished and kicked and kept awake. :-)
