We have seen several praying mantids the past couple of years here in central IL.  In strange places too.  The first one we saw was on top of a 4 level parking garage.

They are not the best of flyers.  It&#039;s kind of a &#039;keeping the claws crossed&#039; sort of flight in hopes that they land right side up.

I don&#039;t know if I&#039;ve ever seen a walking stick.  But I&#039;m not the most observant out in the woods either and it looks like they can be very incognito.</description>
